In June 2019, I had an opportunity to participate in an entrepreneurial challenge as part of the Product Management course in IPL, Bangalore. It was an experience that is very memorable because of the learnings and the people I met.

To me, at the beginning of the challenge, choosing an idea meant something that I am really passionate about but towards the end of it I had a different perspective.

It was a month of grueling effort to put together the pitch deck for the final showcase to a round of judges which included CEOs and investors. We went from conducting customer interviews to value proposition design to experimentation in this short duration.

On the day of the final showcase, all the teams gave the presentation of their innovative solutions for various problems ranging from “yoga losing its authenticity” to “insufficient career guidance for school students”.

While every presentation was unique and great in its own way, there was something strikingly different about the winning team, from my perspective.

While everyone had great drive to make it happen, the winning team was already living what they believed in. It was already a part of their life. They were executing it daily to solve the problem they considered was important.

The conviction that comes from already being what you believe in is way more powerful than dreaming about it.

To conclude, having a passion is not enough, the question is what are you doing about it? And what we do, defines who we are.

Would love to hear your perspective and thoughts 😊
